Brian Montuori (Brian Montuori Studio)
If you’re familiar with Brian’s work, you know he’s got a knack for thinking outside the box, and taking the usual and making it unusual. This hand-carved piece is baseball meets … Bruce Lee? HE MADE NUNCHUCKS OUT OF A BAT, YOU GUYS. Absolutely mind-blowing. Brian says, “I wanted to create a weapon to fight Jose Canseco, who owes me $40 for an autograph he never signed for me at a baseball card show in NJ in 1989. It really sticks with you when your heroes let you down as a kid. The title Midnight Creeper is lifted from one of Satchel Paige’s signature pitches (the clip of Buck O’Neal in Ken Burns’ Baseball describing his pitch names is one of my favorite parts of the entire film) and seemed to fall in line with the spirit of hunting down Jose Canseco in the night.”
We asked 18 of our friends to bring their artistic talents to an unfinished piece of 34" Trinity Bat Company lumber, in an effort to celebrate our love for baseball and music. We'll be donating 50% of the final auction price of each bat to NIVA (National Independent Venue Association) in an effort to help independent venues out with their economic recovery process. Live music helped us build our community, and now we want to lend them a helping hand. With venues being shut for over a year, many of our favorite places to watch/play a show are on the verge of going under. Thanks for getting involved!
